Foundation Training

An in-depth course for decision makers and senior practitioners in the fields of transport, planning, regeneration and public health. This course is delivered as an on-line remote learning course that individuals can book onto. Also, organisations can make group bookings for up to 15 participants. Group courses can be delivered online, in-person or as a mixed format course.

Course format

The course is usually delivered as a series of online sessions using Zoom to groups of around 15 participants. There are 6 chapters which are delivered weekly over 6 weeks.

Each week there is a 2 hour seminar session going in-depth on one aspect of delivering Healthy Streets. Participants then have a few days to complete a homework assignment in their own time to apply a new tool or technique, this takes about 1 hour. The group then reconvenes in a 1 hour tutorial session to discuss what was discovered in the self-led activity and challenges that could arise in applying this in their work.

Booking

Individuals and small groups can book on to these courses by emailing training@healthystreets.com to register their interest, they will then be notified by email when the course dates are set and open for booking.

Courses are delivered at different times throughout the year to enable participants to join a course that suits their time zone. For courses delivered between 9:00-17:00 UTC a place on the course is £550+VAT. For courses delivered outside of these hours places are £675+VAT.

Group bookings of up to 15 participants can be made for a course that is delivered in person, online or as a combination of online and in-person sessions. A group course is £6250 +VAT. For in-person sessions this does not include venue hire and catering (which are provided by the client) or international travel for the trainer.

About the course

This training programme enables participants to build their skills and confidence in delivering a new and different approach to urban planning that prioritises the diverse needs of citizens.

The course takes participants step by step through how to deliver ‘systems change’ using the Healthy Streets Approach as an exemplar.

This is an intensive course requiring a high level of commitment and active participation in all sessions to complete the course and achieve accreditation as a Healthy Streets Practitioner.

On completion of the course participants receive a copy of the course materials, a certificate and electronic badge, their name is added to the register of Healthy Streets Alumni.

There are over 500 Healthy Streets Alumni globally who have completed this course.
