About the course
This short series of 3 online seminars is ideal for people who are new to Healthy Streets or who have some knowledge of the Approach but want to cover the full breadth and get up to date with the tools.
This course requires no previous Healthy Streets training, technical knowledge or skills. It is suitable for anyone with an interest in how streets are designed, managed and used.
The format is three 2-hour lecture-style sessions using powerpoint slides. There are opportunities to ask questions and take part in online polls but this is not required, primarily the sessions are for you to listen and take notes. Participation is not mandatory and attendance at all sessions is not required. Usually the sessions are held at the same time each week for three weeks and hosted on Zoom.
The sessions are not recorded and the slides are not shared after the course. There is no accreditation associated with this course i.e. no badges or certificates issued to participants.
The content of this course is not repeated in the more-in-depth Foundation or Designers courses, it is complimentary.
Course content
Seminar 1 covers the origins of Healthy Streets, introduces each of the 10 Healthy Streets Indicators with examples of how they can be delivered through a range of changes to how streets are designed, managed and used.
Seminar 2 covers the importance of framing and communications in delivering change to how streets are designed, managed and used. This includes tips on tweaking language and imagery to align with your goals and engage your audience.
Seminar 3 looks at how the Healthy Streets Indicators can be measured quantitatively. We will look at the range of different Healthy Streets Measurement tools and how projects can be evaluated using the Healthy Streets Evaluation Framework.
